Dr. Jeremy Kidd (he/him/his) is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry in the Division on Substance Use Disorders at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute (NYSPI). For over 10 years, Dr. Kidd’s research has focused on the intersections of sexuality, gender identity, and substance use to address substance use disparities among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) populations. He has a K23 career-development award from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism to develop a culturally tailored psychotherapeutic intervention for transgender and gender nonbinary individuals seeking help for alcohol use disorder. Dr. Kidd has a number of other research collaborations, including using insurance claims data to investigation opioid use disorder among transgender individuals and to develop resources and policies to increase the availability LGBTQ-affirming addiction treatment. He is undertaking the latter with the support the New York State Office of Mental Health’s Policy Scholars Program. Dr. Kidd also provides clinical services as an attending psychiatrist in the NYSPI Washington Heights Community Services and the New York Presbyterian-Columbia comprehensive psychiatric emergency program..
